The water pump is the heart of the automotive cooling system, typically a belt-driven centrifugal pump. The pump circulates coolant throughout the system while the engine is running. If the drive belt fails, the water pump will not function. It is one of the reasons it's so important to always check the status of the belt during maintenance. 

The water pump uses centrifugal force to send coolant to the outside while it spins, drawing coolant from the centre continuously. The pump inlet is located close to the centre so that coolant returning from the radiator strikes the pump vanes, which then fling the coolant to the outside of the pump to enter the engine. Coolant leaving the pump first flows through the engine block and cylinder head, then through the radiator and finally back to the pump

Lubrication and seal

The water pump bearing adopts once-time lubrication, which is also a kind of lifetime lubrication. so lubricating directly affects the bearing's service-life. Usually, No. 2# or No3#grease can satisfy the requirement of lubrication, the quantity sould be 1/4or 1/2 part of the space. The fuction of the water pump bearing seals is to exclude contaminants,such as dust or coolant vapour,while retaining the lubricant.

Accuracy

The tolerance of water pump bearing needs to satisfy with LIST TWO.
The coarseness of water pump bearing needs to satisfy with LIST THREE.
The accuracy of revolution is not more than 0.025mm.
 

Mounting

When mounting the bearing into the housing,care must be taken to prevent the transmitting of forces through the ball complement.it also must provide adequate bearing support without inducing ovality into the raceways.Strictly forbid transmiting pressure by means of the roll part of the body,Pounding outside ought to avertingmoreover strenuously injures the bearing ,Circularity in water pump casing part of the body opening is dominateeed being living 10 µm ,Cylinder number of degrees 20 µm.
